Donation Request
Asking for a donation? Our policy:
Thank you for thinking of us for a donation for your fund-raising event. Blacksburg Books is your independent, locally-owned community bookstore. We love our community deeply and make every effort to support as many causes as we can! Please understand, however, that we receive a very high volume of donation requests. Weekly and sometimes daily, we are asked to make a donation, and, while we would love to support all the amazing organizations performing positive, enriching, or charitable activities in our community, we are simply unable to donate to every worthy cause.
Our first priority in giving is always for literacy, and we believe in supporting the non-profit organizations, groups, and causes that our customers support. We do not make donations to individuals or families, for-profit businesses, or non-local organizations. If your organization asks for a donation from us, and we are unable to find your board members or staff members in our customer records, we are unlikely to make a contribution to your organization, even though we appreciate the good work that you do in the community.
Our usual donation is a gift certificate to the store. Due to our limited budget, and our ongoing mission to pay our employees a living wage and provide them with good benefits, we are generally not able to make cash donations or buy advertising.
To request a donation please submit the donation request form. We aim to respond within 14 days.
